COMPANY INFORMATION
SACC SF / SV member companies have the great benefit of accessing qualified Swedish trainees for a period of between 12 months up to 18 months, at a low cost, for special projects within i.e. marketing, communications, business administration, engineering, public administration and law, media, sciences, and commerce and finance.

How can my company benefit from the SACC SF / SV Trainee Program?
  • Your company will receive well-educated, motivated, Swedish and English speaking interns/trainees who are interested in doing training for a period of up to 18 months.
  • SACC SF / SV helps you find the right candidate(s) for your intern/trainee position(s). You will be presented with the candidates that best match your company’s needs.
  • SACC SF / SV reviews the candidate applications so that the host company is ensured that they meet the criteria established by the Department of State for the J-1 visa.
  • SACC SF / SV guides your company through the entire application process and assists you with the necessary documentation.
  • Short visa lead times - with SACC SF / SV’s help, the visa processing only takes between 6 to 8 weeks.
  • Low costs for your company - participating in the Trainee Program is a very cost effective investment for your company. The only costs involved for the host company are a competitive fee for the visa application process, and a stipend of your choice to the trainee. Unless otherwise agreed upon, the trainee will normally pay for their own insurance, airplane ticket and other costs that may arise in connection with the traineeship.

Host Company criteria
The host company must be a SACC SF / SV member, and have at least one fulltime employee working at the office where the intern/trainee will do the training. SACC SF / SV recommends that the host company offers the trainee a stipend or maintenance allowance to cover living expenses during the training period. The stipend should at least be the equivalent amount of minimum wage.

Finding interns/trainees
If the host company would like SACC SF / SV to present them with appropriate intern/trainee candidates, they should provide SACC SF / SV with a description of the intern/trainee position offered, specifying special requirements, timeframe, etc.

TESTIMONIALS
"We have already employed four SACC interns in the past two years and fully expect to tap into this vital SACC resource in the years to follow. SACC interns have assisted on a number of highly important marketing projects and events targeting Swedish clients both in the United States and abroad. The high level of dedication and professionalism of the SACC interns involved have made each of these projects a rousing success. The SACC intern program is a truly unique way for the firm to garner increased value from our membership with the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce in San Francisco."

"When I heard about the offer from SACC SF / SV that they would avail an intern for one month, for free, to do a study of a subject of interest for the Business Member I immediately exclaimed 'fantastic! What a great multi-directional beneficial opportunity'. The intern get something challenging to attach and the Business Member gets help to study something that should have been studied a long time ago. I triggered immediately and got assigned Daniel Ahrenby, a newly graduated MBA from Stockholm. As I am doing business as a Distributor for a Swedish company I wanted Daniel's help to dig deeper into the products opportunities on the US market. We agreed upon a frame work and Daniel went to work. It did not take me long to understand that I was getting great work done by a very capable young man. The month passed and Daniel presented a study of about 20 pages. We had, of course, some meeting in between. What did I get out of the study?

  • There were findings that underscored what I expected.
  • Other findings came to view that clearly showed that some products in the offering could easily be positioned wrong and fail as a result. Very valuable input for me.
  • I also got a kick out of feeling that Daniel felt good about his effortand that his work was of value.

I thank SACC for the great Program, please continue it, and Daniel for his great job. This program is, as I said in the beginning, of Multi-Directional benefits!"
