About the host company

The Swedish-American Chambers of Commerce, SACC-USA, is the umbrella organization for 19 regional chambers across the United States. The mission of the SACC network is to facilitate trade, investment and knowledge exchange between Sweden and the U.S in both directions. In 2022, SACC-USA embarked on an exciting project called SIREUS.

About the project

SIREUS is a collaboration project between The Swedish American Chambers of Commerce (SACC-USA) and Swedish universities. The main focus is on knowledge exchange in innovation, science, and entrepreneurship, as well as talent mobility for students and researchers between Sweden and the U.S. This project is carried out in close collaboration with the universities, the Embassy of Sweden in Washington D.C. and the Swedish Institute.

Project activities & objectives

  • Develop collaborations between Swedish-American business and academia
  • Strengthen collaborations between Swedish and U.S. institutions of higher learning

In this versatile role, you will take charge of organizing, coordinating, and supporting both online and in-person events. Your responsibilities will include event planning, logistics coordination, communications, and providing on-site support during events. Additionally, you will manage the SIREUS marketing plan, where you’ll sustain our social media presence and design digital materials.

PLEASE NOTE: While candidates are welcome to apply for multiple positions at SACC, it's important to highlight that accepting an offered position and subsequently accepting a second position at SACC is not allowed. Doing so will result in disqualification from both positions.

Requirements

  • Enrolled or already graduated from one of SIREUS Member Universities within a relevant field of study (Communications, Marketing, Economics, Political Sciences, etc.)
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Structured and stress-resistant
  • Technical skills in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, Eventbrite and Canva
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in Swedish and English
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
  • Passion for promoting Sweden and Swedish higher education in the U.S.
  • Related work or extracurricular activities

Benefits

This is a six-month internship starting in January of 2025. The internship does not provide monetary compensation as SACC-USA is a non-profit organization. As an intern abroad, you can apply for scholarships. Depending on the university program, some students may also be eligible for student aid from CSN. SACC-USA will assist with the visa application process. To be eligible for a J-1 visa, you must be a Swedish citizen. This position provides a unique opportunity to gain valuable real-world experience and business-related skills, while also developing a professional international network. Working in a highly inspirational atmosphere and collaborating with industry leaders and professionals across various business sectors will allow you to acquire new experiences and enhance your skills. You will gain insight into how business is conducted in the U.S., as well as improve your English speaking and writing skills.
