SACC Carolinas 10 th Anniversary was celebrated with a dinner at Prestonwood Country Club, Cary, NC. At the same time the Honorary Consulate of Sweden in Raleigh, NC celebrated its 5th anniversary.  200 persons attended a reception & dinner.

Swedish Battery Expert Helps US Help China
Christina Lampe Önnerud is one of the foremost battery technology experts in the world. And she is currently in the middle of launching Boston Power, which has developed a long-lasting laptop battery that’s safe and environmentally friendly. She recently joined an official U.S. Clean Energy Trade Mission to China. We asked her to talk a little bit about her experiences from her January trip to China. “I sat in on the Clean Tech transfer meetings where the U.S. was basically offering to help China not make the same mistakes that we did in the West. The negotiations were very straightforward.

New Opportunities in Biogas, Biomass, and Energy From Waste
America’s need for green technology is huge, but the nation’s industry is already strong in many areas of environmental and renewable technology, and it is important to study the market closely. “We see a market potential in biogas, biomass, and waste energy,” says Håkan Dahlfors, senior project leader at the Swedish Trade Council (STC) in the U.S. “Some areas are very advanced, while others are behind Sweden,” he says. Ethanol is an area in which the U.S. leads.

A Winner Leads the Way for Entrepreneurs
With nine Grand Slam titles, Stefan Edberg knows what it takes to achieve success. In his new role as an investor and entrepreneur, the former Tennis star can also whow that he also has what it takes when it comes to keeping the money rolling in.
Edberg has lived on a farm in Grimslöw outside Växjö since 2000. He also owns some other properties and is still involved in tennis to a certain degree. But his focus in on trying to get the money from his tennis career and sponsor deals to grow.

 400 Swedish and U.S. Business Leaders Gathered for the Entrepreneurial Days in San Diego, Los Angeles, and Washington
Sustainable Energy, Wireless/Telecom and Life Sciences were some of the industries that were in focus at the first Swedish-American Entrepreneurial Days (Edays) of 2008. The Edays are organized by the Swedish-American Chambers of Commerce and its 19 regional chambers across the U.S. The first 2008 Edays event was held in partnership with SACC San Diego April 7 – 9 and was preceded by a program at the House of Sweden in Washington DC April 3–4 discussing US business opportunities in renewable energy for Swedish companies and followed by a focus on the Media & Entertainment industry in Los Angeles. “Because of Sweden’s cutting edge hi-tech products, the U.S. is the place where great ideas and new products can grow, finding the financial support needed to accelerate on the market,” said Ambassador Hafström in his opening remarks at the Edays.
