The GEICO Champions Celebration is a two-day fundraiser supporting the initiatives of the Junior Tennis Champions Center, a world-class training program that uses tennis and academics to prepare young people to earn scholarships and to compete in intercollegiate tennis.
The event honors Pam Shriver, winner of 22 Grand Slam doubles titles, and Jane Harman, former nine-term congresswoman from California.
Event Proceeds will benefit:
- Expansion of Game On!, a community service partnership that sends JTCC senior coaches and JTCC players to inner city sites throughout the Mid-Atlantic area with the goal of inspiring and mentoring new junior tennis players. In 2011, JTCC served more than 400 underprivileged youth and identified 25 students who currently attend JTCC during the school year.
- Establishment of the Shriver-Harman Youth Tennis Scholarships, which will provide six need-based scholarships annually for boys and girls ages 8-11 from the Mid-Atlantic region to join JTCC’s Game On! Training program.
