During SACC Summit in 2012, co-owner of Svenska Lantchips, Board member of SACC-USA and member of the Transatlantic Business Dialogue TABD, Signhild Arnegård Hansen, introduced the work and mission of the TABD to the SACC chambers.
“TABD is the leading voice of promoting a barrier-free transatlantic market for growth, innovation and sustainability in the global economy. It was created in 1995 by the U.S. Department of Commerce and the European Commission to serve as the official dialogue between American and European business leaders, U.S. cabinet secretaries and EU commissioners, and offers high-level influence on US and EU policy making and bilateral regulatory issues”, says Ms Arnegård Hansen.
She continues to declare that the TABD is engaged in transatlantic economic policy cooperation such as substantive policy inputs to EU-U.S. Summit, Transatlantic Economic Council (TEC), Energy Council, Innovation Action Partnership, High Level Regulatory Cooperation Forum at high level and technical level, and more and more focused on U.S.-EU cooperation vis a vis third countries.
The TABD is constituted by an executive board of CEOs, two co chair CEOs (one U.S. and one EU), and is funded by membership fees. They strongly support the HLGW process and the Transatlantic Partnership (TAP) efforts to renew and open the transatlantic market through eliminating trade, investment and regulatory barriers, promoting regulatory coherence, lift international standards, protect IPR, remove tariffs, create a more open public procurement market and facilitate the movement of people between the unions.
