Visa Interview
Visa Interview at the U.S. Embassy
All individuals in Sweden should apply for a visa at the U.S. Embassy in Stockholm. Individuals in southern Sweden are discouraged from going to the Embassy in Copenhagen.
There are no appointments on Fridays or Swedish and U.S. holidays.
Prior to scheduling an appointment for visa interview at the U.S. Embassy, please read the information carefully and follow the instructions on its web page, http://sweden.usembassy.gov/consulate/niv/visa.html including current fee, form 160, “personbevis,” photo, etc.
ESTA: Since you will be traveling to the a U.S. on visa, you are not required to register in the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA). ESTA is for tourists on a visa waiver.
Visa Renewal: If you have had a J-1 visa previously and submitted fingerprints at that time, you may be eligible to send in your visa application instead of scheduling an interview. Please read the instructions for renewing a visa via postal mail, http://sweden.usembassy.gov/consulate/vrp.html.
